The film is set in ‘Atolan, Taiwan, territory of the ‘Atolan Amis Indigenous Nation and was inspired by the encounters 徐碩曼 (Hsu Shuo-Man) had with ancestors while growing up.
Smoke of the Sea challenges ideas of singular truth in science and medicine. The film encourages the audience to remember our ancestors and reflect on the knowledges which they have to offer us. Watch the full film.
